Vor dem Zünden der Schabbatkerzen
Vor dem Zünden der Schabbatkerzen

Vor dem Zünden der Schabbatkerzen

Manchmal bin ich noch nicht fertig

dich zu empfangen,

aber du bist schon da …

Manchmal rast die Welt, die Zeit, vorbei

und du bist weg

bevor ich dich spürte …

Manchmal steht jeder im Weg

und ich kann dich nicht sehen,

du warst doch da, nicht wahr?

Manchmal haben wir es geschafft,

zugleich anzukommen,

Du bist bereit und ich bin gestresst.

Manchmal ist da plötzlich tiefer Friede

und tiefe Ruhe bei Kerzenschein.

Ich flüstere atemlos:

Willkommen.
Schabbat Schalom.

Sometimes I am not ready

to receive you,

but you are already there …

Sometimes the world, time, rushes by

and you are gone

before I ever noticed you …

Sometimes everybody stands in front of me

and I cannot see you,

you were there, weren’t you?

Sometimes we manged to arrive

together,

you are ready and I am rushed.

Sometimes there is suddenly a deep peace

and intense quiet by candlelight.

I whisper breathlessly: welcome.
Gut Shabbos !
